Job summary

Valley Health in Winchester, Virginia, seeks a Level I Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and labeling medications, restocking Pyxis stations, and supporting patient care across departments.

Under pharmacy supervision, you will manage medication distribution, document compounding, and help with inventory, ordering, and safe handling while upholding Valley Health values and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification required or obtain within 9 months.
• Criminal background check required.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers medications to Pyxis stations and ancillary departments; charges for controlled substances.
• Review MAR forms and patient charts to detect discrepancies; assist with flow-sheets and inventory.
• Communicate workload status; coordinate with pharmacist-on-duty for breaks and patient needs.
• Replace and charge emergency medications; restock storage bins and fulfill floorstock requests.
• Prepare unit-dose packaging and document compounding activities for pharmacist check.
• Answer calls with customer service focus and triage needs to pharmacist.
