Plans, coordinates, and directs activities to ensure sufficient quantity of medications, supplies, and staff to meet the standards of care. • Manages the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns; monitors performance, clarifies work expectations, establishes goals and promotes cooperation among individuals and groups. • Plans and schedules work ensuring distribution of assignments and adequate staffing based on workload and productivity standards. Performs the duties of a Pharmacy Technician as needed. • Develops and implements processes through orientation, training and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated. • Provides advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, technical assistance, and instruction to pharmacy technicians. • Responsible for maintenance and appearance of assigned operational areas including inventory, work areas, and equipment.* Business Planning/Financial • Supports business plans and strategies for pharmacy practice, assists with goal setting, and translates goals into operational tactics at the service level. • Responsible for basic operational reports and analyses for the department; makes recommendations or draws conclusions from operational data. • Develops and monitors expense budgets in assigned laboratory area, authorizes expenditures. Assists in the development and implementation of capital budget and plans to control costs and improve department operations. • Monitors services to ensure effective use of resources and assess needs for staff, equipment, and services based on actual or projected utilization.* Quality/Regulatory • Implements and monitors quality control programs to ensure safe medication storage and compliance with federal and regulatory standards.
