Position Overview
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist the pharmacist in daily pharmacy operations while providing excellent service to our patients. While your primary location will be Loranger, LA, flexibility to float between our other locations in Hammond and Independence as needed is required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist the pharmacist with daily tasks such as processing prescriptions, counting medications, labeling bottles, and distributing medications.
2. Use pharmacy systems to gather patient and drug information, processing prescriptions with accuracy and care.
3. If PTCB certified, coach and assist other pharmacy technicians and support cashiers.
4. Greet customers in person and over the phone with patience and concern, addressing their questions and requests or referring them to the pharmacist.
5. Maintain and organize pharmacy inventory, place and expedite orders, and ensure expired drugs are removed.
6. Prepare medications by reading prescriptions, calculating dosages, and labeling medications for the pharmacist to dispense.
7. Record and file physicians’ orders and prescriptions to maintain accurate records.
8. Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and infection control policies.
9. Support a distinctive customer experience that sets us apart.
10. Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

What You’ll Need:

Required:

1. Certification through the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Availability to work every other Saturday.
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with healthcare providers and customers.
7. Basic math skills for counting and verifying medications.
8. Ability to read, write, and understand English instructions and labels.
9. Good interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service.
10. Legible handwriting and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Preferred:

1. 6+ months of prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

1. This position requires standing and walking on tile or concrete for long periods, up to 10 hours a day.
2. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 35 lbs and bend frequently.
3. The work environment includes variations in heat, cold, and humidity due to entrance doors.
4. Compliance with safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements is necessary.
