Base pay range

$30.00/hr - $32.00/hr

Job Description

Assists in the preparation, dispensing, manufacturing and repackaging of medications. Assists in maintaining records and reports. Maintains sufficient inventories at workstations.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist Registered Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication, including filling, packaging, labeling, and stocking unit dose carts; delivering to nursing units; filling bottles; labeling containers; assisting in sterile techniques for injectable prescriptions; preparing IV additives; filling inpatient medication orders; extemporaneous medication packaging.
  2. Maintain records and reports related to medications, including IV records, inpatient medication records, extemporaneous medications, and medication orders entered into the computer.
  3. Manage inventory at workstations by transporting pharmacy materials, maintaining stock records, and ensuring sufficient supplies for pharmacy operations.
  4. Perform related duties as required.
Job Qualifications
  • Graduate of a recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification, required if hired on/after 12/01/18.
  • Current NYS registered pharmacy technician license, required if hired on/after 4/25/21.
  • Minimum two years hospital pharmacy experience with a computerized system preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, if applicable.
  • Ability to learn computerized hospital pharmacy systems.
