Job summary

Princeton Medical Group, P.A. is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician for IV compounding and dispensing in our multispecialty ambulatory practice in Plainsboro, NJ. You will support infusion operations and review prescriptions.

The role requires completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program, NJ registration, PTCB-CPhT, and at least 2 years of experience; oncology experience preferred. Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Must complete a Pharmacy Technician Program and be registered in NJ.
• Must be a CPhT with PTCB certification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience; oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, compound, and dispense medications including oncology therapies.
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and suitability.
• Process prescriptions through the POS system including patient checkout and billing.
• Maintain QA logs and regular dispensing room cleanliness per SOPs.
• Order supplies, restock medications, and conduct routine inventories in Nucleus.
• Coordinate with physicians on Rx approvals and coverage options.
• Ensure proper adhesion to HIPAA and privacy requirements.

Pharmacy Technician - IV Compounding and Dispensing

• Prepare, compound, and dispense medications, including chemotherapy and biotherapy, as directed by the manager of infusion operations.
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and suitability.
• Completion of patient paperwork/authorizations related to patient, including authorizations for coverage of medical benefits as necessary; submit appeals as necessary.
• Follow and maintain procedures for missing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal under the direction of the Pharmacists/Department Leadership.
• Perform accurate mathematical calculations and medication measurements for compounding and preparation.
• Process prescriptions through the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, including patient checkout, HIPAA signature collection, payment posting, and reconciliation.
• Maintain any necessary Quality Assurance logs, including (but not limited to) cleaning logs, temperature logs, waste logs, expired and destroyed medication logs, and others.
• Order supplies and medication, receive and restock medications, and conduct routine medication inventories via Nucleus.
• Perform daily/weekly cleaning of dispensing room and equipment as required per PMG's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Compare and verify insurance coverage between Medical and Pharmacy benefits for financial analysis.
• Reconcile MID medications to Nucleus patient medication reports.
• Communicating with the physician regarding Rx approval and filling update.
• Be able to direct patients and refer prescription to their best coverage by using Medical or Pharmacy benefit to help offering the best care.
• Following up with patients regarding prescription updates and pickup.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Pharmacy Technician - IV Compounding and Dispensing Requirements:

• High School Graduate/GED/ Equivalent Work
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
• New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Technician registration
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• Minimum 2 years of previous pharmacy technician experience, specialty pharmacy (oncology) experience preferred.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, flexibility is necessary as this schedule is subject to change.
• Overtime as required
