Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Merced, part of Dignity Health, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by filling orders from the medication profile and preparing IV admixtures and bulk solutions. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and strict adherence to protocols in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include labeling, stock management, rounding, and delivering medications to patient care areas on a timely basis, ensuring accuracy and safety in every step of the process.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a California Pharmacy Technician license.
• Preferred National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Familiarity with aseptic techniques for IV admixture and medication preparation.
• Knowledge of drug names and therapeutic uses.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders from the pharmacy profile under pharmacist supervision.
• Prepare intravenous additive and bulk solutions for patients daily.
• Inspect nursing units monthly and remove outdated drugs, documenting findings.
• Label medications accurately as orders are processed for IV and oral doses.
• Monitor stock, place orders, log purchases, and manage deliveries and stock locations.
• Perform hourly rounds delivering medications to patient care areas and clinical units.
• Deliver/exchange 24-hour supply of medications in unit dose cassettes and IV admixtures daily.
