Job summary

South Shore Health System in Massachusetts seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support the Hospital Pharmacy. Under supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, you will fill unit dose orders, refill cabinets, and perform non-sterile and sterile compounding in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma, at least 3 months of Pharmacy Technician experience, and possess RPT/RPI or CPhT/ExCPT certifications.

Qualifications

• High school level of education.
• Minimum of 3 months work experience as Pharmacy Technician preferred. Hospital pharmacy experience desirable.
• RPT or RPI - Registered Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacy Intern
• CPhT or ExCPT- Certified Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Fills routine drug orders for unit dose medications.
• Refills medications in Pharmacy Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
• Performs Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding.
• Repackages medication into unit dose barcoded packages and replenishes code carts drug supply; participates in inventory for Central Pharmacy.

Job Description Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, Supervisor, and/or Director of Pharmacy Services, performs a wide variety of Pharmacy duties to meet the needs for patients in the hospital. Pharmacy Technician duties include filling routine drug orders for unit dose medications, refilling medications in Pharmacy Automated Dispensing Cabinets, performing Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding . Other duties include repackaging of medication into unit dose barcoded packages, replenishes code carts drug supply and performs inventory duties for the Central Pharmacy operation.

Job Description

Minimum Education - Preferred

High school level of education.

Minimum Work Experience

Miniumum of 3 months work experience as Pharmacy Technician preferred. Hospital pharmacy experience desirable.

Required Licenses / Registrations - Requirement to practice a profession. Licenses are granted by a licensing board in accordance with state law. Example - Registered Nurse (RN)

RPT or RPI - Registered Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacy Intern

Required Certifications - Certifies a specific competency or recognition in a professional achievement.
