Pharmacy technicians work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in preparing medications to dispense to patients. Pharmacy technicians must demonstrate proper pharmaceutical techniques and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients as well as the pharmacist. They must learn medication names, actions, uses, and doses; possess a working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, data entry and recordkeeping, and pharmacy law and ethics.

This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role will work three 8‑hour shifts every six weeks. In addition, coverage for PTO, call offs and weekends will be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
License and Certification Requirements
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National Health Career Association (NHA).
  • Must hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. If certified but current status with the OBOP is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee, it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Six months of hospital experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.
