Job description

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient, *OVERNIGHTS | 7-on / 7-off

Join Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System, as a Pharmacy Technician in our inpatient, overnight setting. This role involves preparing and distributing medications for diverse patient populations, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Shift: 10 PM - 8 AM, Wednesday - Tuesday (includes holidays), 7-on / 7-off schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist licensed pharmacists with medication preparation, including IV admixtures using aseptic techniques.
  • Refill Omnicell machines, maintain inventory, and ensure medication stock is up-to-date.
  • Prepare oral syringes, repackage bulk medications, and prepare sterile compounds.
  • Train new staff and ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area, including managing expired medications.
  • Operate and troubleshoot pharmacy automation systems like Pyxis and Omnicell.
  • Participate in inventory management, ordering, and restocking activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and aseptic techniques, and assist in other pharmacy operations as needed.
Qualifications:
  • CPHT or CPT certification; certified technician in PA preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 years of hospital experience preferred.
