Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region is seeking an entry-level Pharmacy Technician focused on medication delivery and inventory management within a clinical environment.

You will support patient and provider care through computer systems, labeling, and on-the-job training of new staff; certification within 2 years and PA Board registration are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as Pharmacy Technician within 2 years (PTCB or NHA).
• Registered as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee/Technician/Intern with PA State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The pharmacy technician works as an entry-level position focused on medication delivery and inventory management. The position has basic patient/provider service responsibilities through communication and message retrieval.

Job Duties

• Provide patient/provider/customer care
• Use the pharmacy computer system to facilitate patient care
• Participate in patient/provider/customer care activities that do not require the expertise of a pharmacist
• Prepare and label medications appropriately for distribution.
• Retrieve, review, and perform inventory management for medications and supplies in the pharmacy.
• Maintain pharmacy records.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the pharmacy in compliance with hospital and accreditation policies.
• Participate in the onboarding and training of new pharmacy personnel.
• Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
• Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
