Job summary

Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support medication distribution for inpatient and outpatient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. Accuracy and patient safety are a priority.

Schedule features rotating days and evenings, every other weekend and major holidays, full-time. The posted pay range is $20–$30 per hour; actual rate based on experience and internal equity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Maryland Pharmacy Technician license is required or must be obtained within 30 days if licensed in another state.
• National Certification is preferred but not required.
• Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and effective communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and delivering medications accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain inventory systems including Pyxis stock and CII Safe.
• Repackage medications and support unit dose systems.
• Perform monthly medication checks to ensure quality and compliance.
• Clean and disinfect the pharmacy clean room per established protocols.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients.
• Uphold safety standards and regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, Maryland Board of Pharmacy, USP 795/800).
• Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives.

Physical & Mental Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and fine hand/eye coordination. Mental demands include sustained attention to detail, multitasking, and effective communication.
