Job summary

Avera Long Term Care Pharmacy in Sioux Falls, SD, is hiring an entry-level Pharmacy Technician in Training. You will work under a registered pharmacist to prepare medications, assist with labeling, and support daily operations in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role includes completing the Avera Pharmacy Technician Education Program to pursue PTCB certification, with a two-year employment commitment after program completion.

Qualifications

• The candidate must be able to work the hours specified and perform essential functions with adequate vision and communication.
• Registration with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy within 30 days for Pharmacy Technician in Training.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certification or approved equivalent training is required.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, input labels and prepare inpatient or outpatient medication orders and prescriptions.
• Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, customers, co-workers, and management to promote patient safety.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medications, calculations, regulations, PPE, and compliance to ensure quality care.
• Perform clerical tasks such as billing, patient demographics, and inventory to support distribution.
• Assist with records and maintain accreditation standards as required.
• May assist customers by phone or in person and run reports as needed.
• Support with monthly stock inspections and inventory management to prevent shortages or excesses.
