Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support medication distribution and operational tasks using Baptist Health software and hardware systems. Responsibilities include adherence to safety, regulatory standards, aseptic technique for compounding, inventory control, and assisting pharmacists in all related duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
• Holds CPht certification from a national program (PTCB/ICPT).
• Two years of experience as a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
• Demonstrates familiarity with the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Baptist Health.
• Demonstrates the ability to Identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
• Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture and automated dispensing cabinets.
• Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
• Maintains the controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory and other documentation files.
• Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians and may verify final competency as needed.
• Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area.
