Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician III - Hazardous Compounding reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, and adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, this role performs advanced technical duties related to dispensing, prescription processing, sterile products, and hazardous medication compounding, including chemotherapy and high-risk preparations. It involves complex tasks such as hazardous medication handling, compounding, and ensuring safety and compliance.

Scheduling

  • This is a casual position, scheduled to work every other weekend, with shifts typically from 7am-11am, 8am-12pm, or 2pm-6pm, rotating weekly. Holiday commitments include at most one winter and one summer holiday.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medication orders for inpatients and outpatients, including sterile and hazardous compounds.
  • Deliver medications, manage inventory, and maintain accurate records.
  • Compound dosage forms, prepare sterile products, and ensure safety protocols for hazardous medications.
  • Operate computer systems for medication management and reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste procedures and safety standards.
  • Complete hazardous medication training and competencies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR). Certification (CPhT or ExCPT) required for licenses obtained after 2008, or current enrollment as a Student Pharmacist.
  • Completion of NM-approved sterile compounding training within 1 year of hire.

Preferred

  • Completion of a Technician Training Program.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience.
