Job description

Position Summary

Assists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities

  1. Essential Functions
  2. Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  3. Understands the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
  4. Familiar with the duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
  5. Utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care based on needs and resource availability.
  6. Operates equipment required for pharmacy procedures following instructions, safety regulations, and policies.
  7. Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures consistent with scientific principles, policies, and procedures.
  8. Handles drug procurement procedures aligned with departmental and Orlando Health policies.
  9. Assists Pharmacists in medication distribution duties, including aseptic techniques for admixture and tasks related to automated dispensing cabinets.
  10. Maintains USP 797 standards and regulatory documentation.
  11. Ensures safe handling and proper disposal of medications.
  12. Completes assigned special projects.
  13. Participates in training new pharmacy technicians as needed.
  14. Maintains expertise in specialized technician services, such as medication history acquisition, based on departmental needs.
  15. Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
  16. Complies with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
  3. Experience: Over one year up to four years as a pharmacy technician; hospital experience preferred.
