Job description

Pharmacy Technician II

We are seeking a California-registered Pharmacy Technician II to join our team. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will be responsible for packaging, preparing, and compounding oral, intravenous, and chemotherapy/biohazard medications. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining control procedures, conducting inventory, and managing stock control.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with USP 797 & 800 standards at all times.
  • Utilize proper aseptic techniques for all pharmaceutical mixing.
  • Order, receive, and maintain accurate medication inventory.
  • Coordinate with specialty pharmacies or manufacturers for timely deliveries of medications for infusion.
  • Perform routine cleaning of pharmacy and clinical areas as required.
  • Procure and maintain supplies necessary for daily mixing operations.
  • Act as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning basic pharmaceutical information to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Assist the pharmacist with billing pharmaceuticals.
  • Inspect all pharmacy and clinical storage areas and submit audit reports as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or post-high school vocational/specialized training, or graduation from a foreign school of pharmacy.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing duties as a pharmacy technician.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred.
