Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, based in Seattle, is seeking a Per-Diem Pharmacy Technician II for the Peninsula Clinic. You will prepare and label medications, compound sterile admixtures, and support training of technicians while triaging medication-related inquiries.

Requirements include a WA state pharmacy technician certification, a high school diploma, and 1 year of experience or completion of the Fred Hutch apprenticeship program. U.S. work authorization and drug screening apply.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner.
• Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
• Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.
• Knowledge and experience compounding sterile intravenous admixtures (preferred).
• Knowledge and experience working with hazardous medications; EMR experience (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (preferred).
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, and label medication in an accurate and efficient manner.
• Compounding of sterile intravenous admixtures including hazardous, non-hazardous, and Investigational Drug Service medications.
• Assist in the training of pharmacy technicians, apprentices, and interns.
• Triage incoming phone calls and electronic messages relating to medications.
• Interact with professional and technical staff in a courteous manner.
• Cleaning and restocking sterile compounding areas.
• Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II interacts with health care providers to perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including preparing intravenous admixtures, triaging medication-related communications, and maintaining the electronic medical record.

This is a Per-Diem role based out of our Peninsula Clinic.

Pre Employment Drug Screening

As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $38.43 to $57.63, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This is a Per-Diem role based out of our Peninsula Clinic.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
