Responsibilities

Working under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II interacts with health care providers to perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including preparing intravenous admixtures, triaging medication-related communications, and maintaining the electronic medical record.

This is a Per-Diem role based out of our Peninsula Clinic.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, and label medication in an accurate and efficient manner
• Compounding of sterile intravenous admixtures including hazardous, non-hazardous, and Investigational Drug Service medications
• Assist in the training of pharmacy technicians, apprentices, and interns
• Triage incoming phone calls and electronic messages relating to medications
• Interact with professional and technical staff in a courteous manner
• Cleaning and restocking sterile compounding areas
• Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Washington state pharmacy technician certification
• 1 year pharmacy technician experience or completion of Fred Hutch pharmacy apprentice program
• Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
• Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical calculationsAbility to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently

Preferred:

• Knowledge and experience compounding sterile intravenous admixtures
• Knowledge and experience working with hazardous medications
• Knowledge of and experience with electronic medical records
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Pre Employment Drug Screening:As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy.The hourly pay range for this position is from $38.43 to $57.63, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.This is a Per-Diem role based out of our Peninsula Clinic.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, and paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked).
