Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented pharmacy technician to support pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications across age groups. The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, inventory management, and timely delivery of medications and supplies.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and either a trainee certification or a Louisiana Board of Pharmacy-certified technician credential.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician experience preferred (1 year)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Trainee Certification or Pharmacy Technician Certificate from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications
• Maintain inventory and uphold accurate records
• Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas promptly
• Assist with ordering, receiving, rotating, restocking and replacing medications and supplies
• Prepackage medications for pediatric and neonatal use per policy
• Input medication orders, charges, and credits into the pharmacy computer system
• Answer phones, handle window requests, and deliver STAT medications as needed
• Maintain required logs and records and ensure documentation is filed appropriately
• Conduct medication storage inspections and cycle counts
