SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A Pharmacy Technician II will support the pharmacy staff; coordinate the day-to-day procedures necessary for the operation of the pharmacy department and able to perform duties of a Pharmacy Technician I.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform all essential job functions of a Pharmacy Technician I at all clinic locations.
- Explain NEMS’ pharmacy services to new members.
- Generate essential pharmacy reports.
- Maintain appropriate medication inventory by tracking usage and placing daily orders.
- Track pharmacy label inventory level for reordering.
- Keep all pharmacy equipment (i.e., pill counting machine) in good working order.
- Daily restock of medication and rotate existing medication stock.
- Return all expired and damaged medication and supplies to the appropriate sources.
- Check for expired medication for the pharmacy and other NEMS departments monthly.
- Ensure temperature of refrigerator is in the designated range daily.
- Adequately stocks all forms utilized by the pharmacy.
- Maintain all invoices for medication and supply orders.
- Ensure payments only for supplies received in good order.
- Register all new patients onto the pharmacy computer operating systems
- Update all relevant patient information on the pharmacy computer operating systems
- Supervise “counting out” of cash register daily.
- Conduct annual pharmacy inventory.
- Aid pharmacist in communication with patients using their languages/dialects
- Understand all pharmacy price plans and can use appropriated price plans to bill patients’ pharmacy insurance/plans
- Review medication pricing when receiving orders and refer to Epic analyst for price updates/corrections if necessary.
- Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid license as a pharmacy technician from the California State Board of Pharmacy.
- At least 1-2 years of experience as an in outpatient/clinic pharmacy technician.
- Must be able to cover all Pharmacy locations.
LANGUAGE:
- Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
- Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish and other languages may be required depending on location.
- Fluency in other languages is an asset.
STATUS:
This is an FLSA non-exempt position.
This is an OSHA high-risk position.
