Position Summary

Assists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions, including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Understands the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
  • Familiar with general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
  • Identifies and utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care based on need, availability, and responsibility.
  • Operates equipment required for pharmacy procedures following instructions, safety regulations, and policies.
  • Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures consistent with scientific principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Handles drug procurement procedures according to departmental principles and policies.
  • Assists Pharmacist in medication distribution, including aseptic techniques for admixture and tasks with automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensures safe handling and disposal of medications.
  • Completes assigned special projects.
  • Participates in training new pharmacy technicians if needed.
  • Maintains expertise in specialized practice areas as needed.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training

High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification

Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience

More than one year up to four years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
