GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance, and support for the registered pharmacist.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Processes medication orders including computer order entry, medication preparation, and assembly prior to pharmacist final check. (25%)
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies according to policies, including inspection and use of pharmacy systems. (25%)
• Provides customer service by taking prescriptions, documenting information, handling customer interactions courteously, and releasing medications per policy. (25%)
• Patient Population:
• Outpatient Techs: Validates insurance coverage, handles cash, prepares deposits, and reports.
• Inpatient Techs: Compounds, stocks, re-packages medications, prepares IV orders, including compounding and labeling. (25%)
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT). Incumbents as of April 9, 2023, must achieve CPhT by 1/1/2024.

Preferred

• 1 year of pharmacy experience in the respective area.
