Job description

DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and/or Supervisor, the Pharmacy Technician III assists the pharmacist in preparing medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures. Responsibilities include medication distribution, record keeping, billing functions, inventory management, and operational duties within a scheduled area. The technician also assists in completing medication histories and related distribution duties.

Note: Depending on experience and qualifications, this position may be hired at the Pharmacy Technician II or III level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB.
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Two to five (2-5) years of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills for sorting, filing, and retrieving information.
  • Ability to manage workload within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, articulating complex ideas for diverse audiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with IV sterile compounding preparation.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Availability to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,519 - $80,200 (prorated if less than 100% appointment)

Hourly Range: $30.90 - $38.41

Compensation factors include experience, skills, knowledge, education, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. The listed salary range is the university's budgeted estimate, which may vary based on internal equity and other factors.
