Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD in Houston, TX is seeking a certified Pharmacy Technician II Float to join our pharmacy team. You will assist patients with enrollment in Patient Assistance Programs and perform inpatient and outpatient pharmacy support, including entering orders and ensuring accuracy of medication information.

The role requires 2 years of pharmacy experience as a certified technician, PAP experience, hospital exposure, and a TX CPhT license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 2 years of related experience working in a pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and 1 year of experience doing independent pharmacy assistance program (PAP) functions.
• Must have some hospital pharmacy exposure.
• 2 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with prescribing to Patient Assistance Programs to acquire “free medication” where applicable and appropriate for the patient.
• Pre-packs supplies, generates reports and maintains appropriate inventory levels
• Conducts monthly unit inspections where medications are dispensed, stored, and administered.
• Identifies and retrieves outdated supplies.
• Orders pharmaceuticals and supplies in a manner that optimizes cost and contract compliance
• Compliant with agency educational and licensure requirements.
• Accurately enters patient information into Pharmacy Computer system.
• Enters correct medication information, including medication strength and route.
• Must be knowledgeable of CPEP formulary to answer questions from physicians, nurses as to what medications available and strengths.
• Prepares unit of use when possible
• Pyxis Med Station responsibilities:
• Pulling correct unit dose medications
• Correctly fills medications into unit of use bins.
• Reconcile dispensed/ ordered medication report.
• Performs monthly nursing unit inspections: PES/CSU/CRU/PH-CRU
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
