Job summary

Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital in Sebastian, FL, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist with operational and distribution responsibilities across the Pharmacy department. You will work with Orlando Health software and hardware systems, support safe medication preparation, and help ensure regulatory compliance.

This role requires completing the Pharmacy Technician responsibilities, maintaining USP 797 standards, and collaborating with pharmacists to provide timely patient care.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician registration (state/board).
  • Familiarity with hospital pharmacy procedures and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Supports medication distribution and aseptic techniques under pharmacist supervision.
  • Operates equipment used in pharmacy procedures in line with policy and safety rules.
  • Procures drugs and supports basic buyer procedures per department guidelines.
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and regulatory documentation.
  • Assists in training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.

Position Summary
A Brief Overview

Assists with operational and all distribution responsibilities as they are related to Pharmacy Technician functions including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities
What you will do
  • Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health
  • Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department
  • Demonstrates the ability to Identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policy and procedures
  • Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures
  • Performs the basic buyer procedures including drug procurement required by the department and consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures
  • Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks / procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation
  • Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements
  • Responsible for special project completion as assigned
  • Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed
  • Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (eg. medication history acquisition) depending on the needs of the department
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures

  • Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy
