Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to support operations and distribution within our hospital pharmacy system. You will work with Orlando Health software and hardware, support safety procedures, and assist in medication distribution and aseptic techniques as needed.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma, current Florida Pharmacy Technician registration, CPht certification, and more than four years of experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Florida State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician registration.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht) certificate from a nationally recognized program (PTCB, ICPT) – current certification required.
  • Greater than four (4) years of pharmacy technician experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Understand hospital mission, personnel policies, and pharmacy objectives.
  • Familiarize with general pharmacy duties and processes.
  • Identify and utilize resources for customer service and patient care.
  • Operate required equipment in accordance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Perform basic pharmacy technician procedures consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
  • Carry out buying procedures, including drug procurement, per department and health policies.
  • Assist pharmacist in medication distribution, aseptic techniques for admixture (e.g., chemotherapy) and automated dispensing cabinet tasks.
  • Maintain USP 797 standards and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure safe handling, disposal, and controlled substance vault compliance.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Train and evaluate new pharmacy technicians.
  • Provide coverage in specialized practice areas such as medication history acquisition and controlled substance inventory.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance per ORMC policies, ADA, FMLA, and local standards.
  • Adhere to all ORMC policies and procedures.
  • Attend required in‑services/meetings.
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Current Florida State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician registration
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht) certificate from a nationally recognized program (PTCB, ICPT)

Position Summary

Pharmacy Technician III will assist with operational and distribution responsibilities related to pharmacy functions and use of Orlando Health software and hardware systems, including collaborative safety and risk management procedures and pharmacy technology.

Shift: Varies – VFT
