Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy Technician license (state) required; PTCB certification required.
  • 1 year or less of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • Understanding HIPAA privacy rules and discretion handling patient information.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to handle controlled substances per policy.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include preparing, packaging, labeling, and distributing unit-dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders; delivering medications and supplies to patient care areas; and maintaining medication integrity through proper storage, rotation, and inventory control. The technician uses pharmacy information systems and departmental tools to document work, support work flow tracking and reporting as assigned, and may be scheduled in central pharmacy and/or specialized pharmacy areas based on operational needs. The role also includes organizing inventory, auditing medication storage areas, conducting safety and quality checks, escalating discrepancies, and handling controlled substances per policy.
