Job Overview

Assist the Site Manager/Pharmacist-In-Charge with tasks in the pharmacy. Respond to and resolve insurance questions, process prescriptions, and address issues quickly and accurately. Provide and promote exceptional customer service, assist in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies, enter new and refill prescriptions in the computer system, work with physician offices to obtain refill requests, handle cash register transactions, receive patient prescriptions, unpack/verify stock-to-invoices, and help maintain the pharmacy in proper order.

Responsibilities

• Receive prescriptions from patients and gather appropriate information. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies, including counting, pouring, and labeling prescriptions. Process manual prescriptions including Medicare B, VA Medical, and Worker’s Compensation efficiently and accurately. Complete special orders to meet customers’ needs.
• Verify insurance and resolve issues to serve the customer’s needs. Address third-party prescription questions, including prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, price checks, and drug utilization review.
• Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately; including entering refill authorization requests and handling complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system and utilize reporting tools as necessary.
• Respond to customer questions and concerns professionally and promptly. Handle cash register transactions accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education

• High school diploma/GED.

Required Experience

• Any retail and/or pharmacy experience.

Required License/Certification

• Active technician pharmacy registration with the MN Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred Education

• Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program.

Preferred Experience

• One to three years of retail and/or pharmacy experience.

Additional Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills, proficiency in English, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, adherence to policies and procedures, basic math and typing skills, and excellent communication skills.
