Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist with receiving, preparing, and distributing medications. All work is done under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

• Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions.
• Package and distribute medications under the direction of the on‑duty pharmacist.
• Ensure compliance with all licensure and federal, state, and local laws and regulations and observe the pharmacy's policies on best practice.
• Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints.
• Assume on‑call responsibilities in accordance with pharmacy guidelines.
• Report product incidents as required in accordance with pharmacy policy.
• Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
• Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
• Participate in in‑service education programs provided by the pharmacy.
• Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and certification requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Pharmacist.
• The following functions require the professional judgement of a pharmacist and may not be performed by a pharmacy technician
  • Acceptance of verbal prescriptions.
  • Certification of filled prescriptions.
  • Entry of orders into the computer system without verification by pharmacist
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements.
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
• Related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
