Summary

The registered pharmacy technician I works under licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support. This includes distribution, dispensing, and compounding of non-sterile medications, complying with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, fill, receive, deliver, stock, and restock medications and supplies.
  • Repackage bulk medications.
  • Process medication charges/credits.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new pharmacy staff and students.
  • Support customer service and patient needs, including answering phones, managing work queues, and completing medication histories.
  • Maintain medication distribution systems and channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, code carts, trays, and kits.
  • Perform prescription data entry.
  • Prepare non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous medications, and cross-train in advanced functions as appropriate.

Education and Certification Requirements
