Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Pharmacy Tech I to assist pharmacists in delivering patient-centered care. You’ll support clerical duties, telephone communications, and pharmacy record-keeping under direct supervision while gaining independent technical skills.

Responsibilities include compounding, narcotics transactions, Omnicell refills, and compliance audits in a busy hospital pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent required.
  • Basic knowledge of math, metric system, pharmaceutical chemistry, and medical terminology essential.
  • General knowledge of office procedures such as filing and record keeping essential.
  • Good telephone skills and good oral communication skills essential.
  • CPhT certification or enrollment in ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration or Texas Pharmacy Intern License required.
  • ACPE IV certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacist in providing professional pharmacy services to patients and staff.
  • Handle clerical duties: answering phones, recording, filing, and reporting activities.
  • Perform technical tasks after gaining experience and demonstrated competency.
  • Documentation of training on file prior to working independently.
  • Work under supervision of an experienced pharmacist.
  • Participate in central PO area activities, compounding, narcotics transactions, Omnicell refills, and compliance audits.
