Mass General Brigham's North Shore Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the team at 81 Highland Avenue. Under the supervision of a staff pharmacist, you will perform routine support tasks, prepare unit-dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders while maintaining the safety and integrity of medications.

Candidates should have a Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License and CPhT certification, a high school diploma, and hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Perform intermediate mathematical calculations associated with preparing non-sterile, extemporaneously manufactured pharmaceutical products and other medication doses.
  • Follow all applicable state and federal controlled substance regulations.
  • Continue to improve area-specific technology skills including robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pharmaceutical dosage calculations for extemporaneous dosage forms under pharmacist supervision.
  • Adheres to safety requirements for handling non-hazardous medications and regulatory requirements.
  • May train Pharmacy Technician Trainees and participate in departmental projects.
  • Distributes and transports stock orders while maintaining proper drug handling and storage practices.

Tasks include, but are not limited to, preparation and distribution of unit dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders while maintaining the safe handling and integrity of medications. Tasks may also include responsibilities related to technical training and participation in departmental projects. Staffing assignments will include roles throughout central pharmacy and designated specialized pharmacy areas.Does this position require Patient Care?NoEssential Functions-Performs all required pharmaceutical dosage calculations necessary to prepare extemporaneous dosage forms, as applicable, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.-Adheres to safety requirements for handling non-hazardous medications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.-May prepare compounded sterile products using principles of aseptic technique, distribute and transport controlled substances under the appropriate state of control, or maintain code cart inventory.
