Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health (“Bienvivir”) is a community-based, patient-centered, comprehensive health care delivery system that advocates and promotes quality of life, optimum independence, dignity, and choices in a nurturing environment for frail seniors. Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (“PACE”).

PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.

Bienvivir is currently accepting applications for the following position:

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN I

The Pharmacy Technician I (Tech I) may perform only non-judgmental technician duties associated with the preparation and dispensing of prescription drugs as described by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Tech I will be assigned to the filling and scanning out workstations, as well as refill processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Filling and labeling prescriptions with priority to the Noon and Evening Lists.
  2. Taking a stock bottle from the shelf for a prescription, and scanning the barcode to verify accurate drug and strength.
  3. Preparing and packaging prescription drug orders (i.e., counting tablets/capsules, measuring liquids and placing them in the appropriate prescription container).
  4. Affixing prescription and auxiliary labels to the container.
  5. Processing refill requests when ordered in a timely manner.
  6. Prepares and seals prescription bags with delivery receipt.
  7. Organizes prescription bags in designated delivery tote.
  8. Scanning out prescriptions for pick up and signature capture, S1 Workstation.
  9. Coordinates deliveries with pharmacy driver.
  10. Reconstituting medication provided under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  11. Prepares the reports and stock bottles of bulk unlabeled drugs for visual verification by a pharmacist for the dispensing from the automated machine.
  12. Help maintain the Noon and Evening List, keep shelves clean and orderly.
  13. Monitor for expired medication.
  14. Answer phone calls by workstation priority.
  15. Help maintain pharmacy records.
  16. Help maintain inventories of drug supplies.
  17. May be required to perform additional duties related to the prescription process or operation of the pharmacy not mentioned in the duties above.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma
  2. Current PTCB Certificate
  3. Current TXBP Pharmacy Technician Registration Certificate in good standing
  4. 1-year pharmacy experience
