Job Overview

This role involves developing competencies in pharmacy customer service, medication dispensing, insurance billing, clinical support, and pharmacy procedures. The position requires compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substances and USP requirements. The technician must provide age-appropriate patient care and may assist with diabetic footwear sales and fitting, depending on the location.

Key Responsibilities

1. Service pharmacy customers: obtain and record demographic info, data entry, insurance verification, label generation, and cashiering.
2. Dispense and deliver medications, utilizing pharmacy information systems, technology, and automation.
3. Handle insurance and third-party billing: data entry, prior authorizations, error investigation, and coverage issues.
4. Support clinical needs such as DIR fees.
5. Assist with diabetic footwear sales and insurance billing, if applicable.
6. Develop pharmacy workflow competency across multiple locations, if applicable.
7. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, including controlled substances and USP requirements.
8. Provide age-specific patient care, assessing data and interpreting information to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Lift/carry/push/pull items up to 35 lbs.
