Job Title: Home Care Pharmacy Technician

Position Details:

• Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
• Location: Onsite in Akron, OH

Summary:

The Home Care Pharmacy Technician works within the Pharmacy Department to support the Home Care pharmacy. Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists with medication preparation and coordinating pharmacy services for factor patients through the Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC). Key duties involve managing third-party prior authorizations, maintaining compliance and records, inventory management, and supporting operational functions within the home care pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide medication access and affordability services for patients.
2. Demonstrate proficiency with pharmacy and health system information systems.
3. Document services appropriately in the electronic medical record.
4. Ensure timely and accurate documentation for providers, staff, and patients/families.
5. Perform general operational duties within the home care pharmacy.
6. Prepare patient prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
7. Maintain adequate medication inventory, including removing outdates and recalled medications.
8. Communicate effectively with pharmacy team members, healthcare providers, and patients/families.
9. Resolve medication-related issues and process transactions accurately.
10. Assist in filling and shipping medications, ensuring stability during shipment.
11. Support pharmacy accreditation processes.
12. Maintain documentation and records for program compliance.
13. Adhere to all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or pharmacist related to medication access and patient care.

Additional Information:

Technical Expertise

• Preferred: Outpatient pharmacy technician experience.
• Preferred: Clinical knowledge of specialty pharmacy disease states.

Licensure

• Ohio Board of Pharmacy Certified Technician License required.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or equivalent) required.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
