Job summary

Sterling Pharmacy in Rushford, MN is part of Astrup Companies—a family-owned and locally grown business with a 70+ year history. The pharmacy seeks a full-time Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists, fill/dispense prescriptions, and care for patients in a Monday–Friday schedule with some Saturdays.

The position offers full health benefits, a 401(k) with company match, and a profit-sharing bonus program. Hours are typically 8:30 am–5:30 pm, with Saturday half-day coverage.

Qualifications

• Complete necessary pharmacy technician training in a timely fashion
• Complete required continuing education annually
• Review patient information on the RX 30 system for accuracy

Responsibilities

• Review patient information on the RX 30 system for accuracy
• Receive new prescriptions physically from patients
• Accept prescription refill authorizations via the telephone or fax
• Answer telephone in three rings
• Adhere to policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations
• Stay compliant with all statutes, rules, and regulations related to pharmacy practice, both federal and state
• Monitor reimbursement of prescriptions to achieve optimal gross profit margins
• Help manage inventory levels to achieve optimal return on investment
• Represent yourself professionally to the community as a Pharmacy Technician
• Collect all information needed for billing Medicaid and Medicare for DME, supplies
• Help ensure that patients are counseled on all new prescriptions and on any refills
• Be aware of and support promotional activity within the pharmacy and Home Health Care category
• Provide the best possible service to all of our customers
• Accurately count and fill prescriptions for all patients
• Provide accurate/timely service to customers at the point of sale
• Collaborate with team members to ensure everyone is capable of fulfilling all pharmacy related tasks and training other employees
• Create a culture of positivity and excitement in the pharmacy/store
• Adapt quickly to company changes related to policy and workflow
• Clean work area and the pharmacy
• Complete other duties as assigned
