Join us as a Pharmacy Technician (Full time, Nights) at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System

Penn Medicine is committed to providing exceptional patient care, advancing innovative research, and educating future medical leaders. Working at this leading academic medical center offers collaboration with top professionals across all disciplines.

Position Details:

  • Hours: 3rd shift, 7 days on/7 days off, 8pm-6am (no meal deduction)
  • Location: Lancaster General Health
  • Department: Inpatient Pharmacy
  • Sign-On Bonus: $2,500 for external candidates, with a 2-year commitment (prorated by FTE)

Position Summary:

Under supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician handles medication dispensing, charging, and delivery, ensuring compliance with policies to provide optimal pharmaceutical care.

Essential Functions:

  • Handle controlled substances and specialty pharmaceuticals following procedures.
  • Operate automation systems including packaging and dispensing cabinets.
  • Prepare medications accurately under pharmacist supervision.
  • Transport medications and pharmacy equipment across patient care areas.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, and labeling.
  • Respond to inquiries professionally via phone and in person.
  • Complete shift duties efficiently and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Secondary Functions:

  • Resolve missing dose issues and assist in training new technicians.
  • Maintain proper inventory and control of drugs and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good standing healthcare provider status with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance programs.
  • National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) required within 9 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program.
