Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
• 1+ years of non-commercial or specialty pharmacy experience, cold chain.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and dosage forms.
• Proficiency with pharmacy management software.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team with pharmacists.
• HIPAA compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist(s) and technicians with pharmacy fulfillment per SOPs.
• Communicate inventory quantities for medication delivery.
• Fill prescription orders: retrieve meds, count, label, package.
• Enter and process prescription orders in the system.
• Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy.
• Receive and restock drug orders; perform cycle counts.
• Collaborate to adjudicate fulfillment issues and mailings.
• Maintain cleaning log and Excel trackers.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and safety protocols.
• Work on additional projects as assigned.

Job description

Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Fulfillment is responsible for preparing medications for patient use under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist, in accordance with federal and state laws, and RareMed Solutions policies. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining a clean workspace as well as contributing towards pharmacy cleaning, resupply, cycle counts, and additional tasks that maintain the pharmacy's operational readiness. This position reports to the Lead Clinical Pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technician(s) with pharmacy fulfillment activities in accordance with established standard operating procedures
• Communicates with staff about sufficient inventory quantities in regards to medication delivery
• Medication dispensing and order processing:
  • Accurately and efficiently fill prescription orders by retrieving medications, counting quantities, selecting lots, labeling, and packaging products appropriately
  • Utilize prescription information systems to enter and process prescription orders
  • Review prescription information to confirm completeness and accuracy
• Inventory management:
  • Receive drug orders, check in, and restock medications
  • Assist with regular cycle counts
• Collaborate with operations teams to adjudicate prescription fulfillment issues and facilitate mailing of free goods applications, consent mailers, and rescue letters
• Maintain pharmacy cleaning log and excel trackers as needed
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy regulations
• Adhere to established safety and quality assurance protocols related to medication storage and handling
• Additional projects and activities as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration
• Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) licensure
• 2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician
• 1+ years of experience of non-commercial pharmacy or specialty pharmacy experienceExperience in cold chain product fulfillment
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medications, and dosage forms
• Proficiency with using pharmacy management software
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team framework with pharmacists and other medical professionals
• Knowledge of pharmacy rules and regulations including HIPAA compliance

Work Environment

This position operates in a well-lit, mail order distribution pharmacy environment. The role routinely uses pharmaceutical equipment and safety supplies. This position operates fully on-site, with an expectation of being onsite Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts occurring between 8am-8pm. Employees must be within commuting distance of our headquarters, located at 200 Industry Drive, Coraopolis, PA 15275. RareMed will provide all necessary equipment required to ensure a functional and efficient workspace.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 20 pounds; and utilize the computer and barcode scanner. Must be able to use proper personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, gloves, eye protection and face masks when needed.
