Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support order entry and distribution of medications under supervision. The role requires a high school diploma, pharmacy terminology knowledge, and hand-on externship experience, with potential for certification within six months.

This full-time position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants and a second-shift, 2nd shift differential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy required
• Six (6) months of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy with an educational background in medical terminology and computer use required
• Graduate of a formalized Pharmacy Technician Training Program with a minimum of 120 hours in an externship program required.
• Ability to obtain Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB, NHA, or equivalent) within six (6) months required.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance with the order entry preparation and distribution of drug products under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of drug supplies and a system of control to ensure the integrity of the purchases, control of supplies and proper accounting for their distribution.
