Job summary

Northport VA Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to fill orders and dispense medications using automated systems, or provide technical customer service to Veterans regarding prescription needs.

The role requires knowledge of pharmacy technician principles, proficiency with computerized prescription processing, and the ability to troubleshoot ADE and related platforms. Certification and experience are emphasized for higher levels of responsibility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pharmacy technician principles and independent work.
• Knowledge of the computerized prescription process and input of prescriptions and medication orders.
• Ability to resolve pharmacy/medication issues with the healthcare team, Veterans and external customers.
• Ability to train developmental pharmacy technicians and students.
• Ability to dispense medications or sterile products following all regulations and procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot automated dispensing equipment (ADE) or related platforms.
