Job summary

VCU Health System Authority seeks a Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, recording, and transporting medications for all patient groups in a fast-paced setting. The role operates under minimal supervision and supports patient care while participating in the transitional duty period.

Required Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration and Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB/ExCPT) within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
• Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) is required within 6 months of employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of pharmacy practice experience is preferred.
• Typing speed 20-30 words per minute is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks designated by the pharmacist to assist in patient care that do not legally require a pharmacist's supervision or verification.
• Communicates effectively with all staff members.
• Identifies equipment or operational problems and brings them to the attention of a pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
• Interacts with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment.
