Job summary

California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a part-time role working 12 hours per week at a California correctional facility. The position supports pharmacy operations in a secure environment.

Under the supervision of a Pharmacist II, you will assist in preparing prescriptions, maintain records and inventories of drugs, poisons, and narcotics, and ensure compliance with department policies and state and federal laws.

This part-time position will be working 12 hours per week.

The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $1,127 to $1,526.

Job Description And Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 20, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3.00 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist II, the Pharmacy Technician performs basic services in a pharmacy and technical duties which do not require licensure. The Pharmacy Technician assists in maintaining pharmacy operations and assists the pharmacists in preparing prescriptions and maintains records and inventories of drugs, poisons, and narcotics in accordance with Department policies and federal and State laws and regulations. May work around inmates of a correctional facility.
