Job Description: Pharmacy Technician Company Overview: CoverMyMeds by McKesson is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician for our Irving location. Texas Oncology, along with Texas Breast Specialists and Texas Urology Specialists, leads the way in community-based, multidisciplinary cancer centers, offering local communities access to advanced technology and care. Position Overview: Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist within a licensed pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician performs technical, nonjudgmental tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, record-keeping, and inventory control. Tasks are subject to verification by a registered nurse or pharmacist. The role adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Note that certain state laws may restrict compounding or mixing responsibilities to licensed individuals. Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate initiative and maintain a proactive, enthusiastic work approach.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and exceptional multi-tasking skills.
  • Verify orders for completeness and accuracy of information.
  • Read and interpret prescriptions accurately.
  • Confirm patient information and verify proper physician authorization.
  • Ensure insurance approval for orders.
  • Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
  • Assist pharmacists in the safe distribution of medications and pharmaceutical care provision.
  • Enter and process new prescriptions into the pharmacy system under the pharmacist's supervision, following company policy.
  • Process prescription refills, including refill confirmations, review pending refills with the supervising pharmacist, and manage third-party claims adjudication.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate order processing.
  • Assist in maintaining the accuracy of software templates.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
  • Comply with all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a Data Intake Pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Texas.
Physical Demands: The role requires a full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and the ability to read and note measurements.
