Qualifications

Role Summary

Biologics by McKesson is seeking a licensed Specialty Pharmacist to join our high-performing specialty pharmacy team. In this role, you will ensure the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of specialty medications while supporting patients, providers, and pharmacy operations. You will leverage your clinical expertise to perform medication reviews, provide patient counseling, oversee prescription fulfillment activities, and help deliver an exceptional patient experience.

This position is ideal for a pharmacist who thrives in a fast-paced specialty pharmacy or mail-order environment and is passionate about improving patient outcomes.

What You'll Do
  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform drug utilization reviews to identify interactions, contraindications, and therapy concerns.
  • Dispense specialty medications while maintaining high standards for patient safety and quality.
  • Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, storage requirements, and adherence.
  • Partner with providers, patients, and care teams to resolve prescription-related questions.
  • Oversee pharmacy technician work and ensure accuracy throughout the fulfillment process.
  • Maintain compliant patient records and support quality, inventory, and operational excellence.
Basic Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Texas.

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Experience in specialty, mail-order, hospital, retail, or clinical pharmacy settings.
  • Working knowledge of specialty medications and therapeutic areas such as oncology or immunology.
  • Experience with drug utilization reviews, medication therapy management, and pharmacy technology systems.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations with a focus on accuracy, patient safety, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with providers, patients, pharmacy technicians, and cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
  • Fully onsite within a specialty pharmacy fulfillment environment. On-call requirements may be needed for pharmacy temperature monitoring.
  • May require standing for extended periods and frequent use of pharmacy dispensing equipment and computer systems.
  • Ability to lift and move pharmacy supplies and medication containers consistent with business needs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy setting while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
Our Base Pay Range for this position

$56.79 - $94.65

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
