Job summary

Walgreens in Prospect, Kentucky is seeking a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to be at the front lines with customers, assisting in prescriptions and building strong patient relationships.

You will participate in an earn-while-you-learn Pharmacy Technician Training Program, aiming for PTCB certification and ongoing professional development within Walgreens’ pharmacy system and services.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
• Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits.
• Prefers six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefers to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefers good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
• Prefers good computer skills.
• Prefers knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefers PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy.
• Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Under supervision by the pharmacist, assists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Reports prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to company policies regarding errors and quality programs.
• Registers related sales on the cash register and assists customers to the OTC aisle.
• Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third-party prescription services and handles clerical duties.
• Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities and stores handling.
• May assist pharmacist in clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
• Develops relationships with local medical community and health groups.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in the Pharmacy Department and ensures adequate supplies.
• Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
