Job summary

Community Clinic Inc. in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a Regular Full-Time Pharmacy Technician to support daily pharmacy operations under the supervision of the Pharmacist.

You will assist with prescription processing, patient service, and collaboration with providers to deliver quality primary medical services. Responsibilities include entering prescriptions, counting stock, handling insurance questions, maintaining patient profiles, and assisting with 340b program procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in a retail pharmacy or FQHC.
• Understanding of the 340B discount program.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients dropping off or picking up prescription orders.
• Enter and process prescriptions into the computer and consult with the pharmacist as needed.
• Retrieve, count, and set up orders to support the pharmacist.
• Maintain patient profiles and update insurance information in the system.
• Answer and respond to phone calls efficiently.
• Assist the pharmacist and medical staff under supervision while following regulations and policies.
• Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescriptions and resolve coverage issues.
• Receive inventory, stock shelves, rotate stock, and verify documentation.
• Prepare pharmacy inventory and order medications and supplies.
• Conduct end-of-month inventory and dispose of expired stock.
• Coordinate refill authorizations with medical staff and refer patients for appointments.
• Operate cash drawer at point of sale.
• Follow 340b program policies and procedures.
• Support record-keeping requirements of the pharmacy.
• Collaborate with the pharmacist to provide safe and accurate patient care.
• Adhere to company policies, standards, and compliance.
