Job description

Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in various general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities:

1. Fills and delivers medications under supervision.
2. Participates in training new employees.
3. Follows policies and procedures consistently.
4. Ensures adequate supplies for patient care.
5. Triages and escalates issues outside the technician scope to the staff pharmacist or supervisor.
6. Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
7. Maintains quality assurance according to departmental and legal standards.
8. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Details:

Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 hourly

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of relevant experience.
• Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
• CPhT credential through NHA or PTCB required; for hires before Feb 1, 2020, certification needed by Jan 31, 2022.

Physical Demands:

Standing for prolonged periods, proficient communication, auditory and visual skills, attention to detail, ability to lift/push/pull less than 20 lbs.
