Job summary

The Sylvester - Pharmacy Patient Assistance Programs at the University of Miami is seeking a Full Time Pharmacy Technician 2 to join our team. You will enroll patients in medication patient assistance programs, work with clinicians to initiate prescribed treatments, and ensure program compliance while managing inventory and billing tasks.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, Florida Pharmacy Technician registration, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with Florida DOH.
• Pharmacy Technician certificate preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify and enroll patients into medication Patient Assistance Programs and charity foundations.
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, case managers, and social workers to initiate prescribed treatments.
• Communicate program requirements, timelines, updates, and expectations to enrollees.
• Document provider, patient, and program interactions timely.
• Stay updated with program requirements and eligibility criteria and maintain accurate records for compliance.
• Maintain inventory of program medications and perform daily inventory tasks including intake, distribution, returns, and disposal.
• Audit patient claims for accurate billing of medications through Patient Assistance Programs.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time to meet priorities.
• Provide routine reports to pharmacy management on project progress.
• Assist on projects and cost-savings initiatives for the pharmacy department.
• Perform other pharmacy and administrative tasks as necessary.

The Sylvester - Pharmacy Patient Assistance Programs at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Pharmacy Technician 2.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Work as a multidisciplinary team member to identify and enroll patients into various medication Patient Assistance Programs and charity foundations
• Work with physicians, mid-level providers, case managers, and social workers at a number of University of Miami clinics to ensure timely initiation of the prescribed treatments
• Clearly communicate program requirements, timelines, updates, and expectations to enrollees
• Perform timely documentation of provider, patient, and program interactions as necessary
• Stay update to date with new program requirements and eligibility criteria as well as maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with all programs
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all program medications and perform inventory tasks daily, including product intake and distribution for the treatment of program participants, returns, and proper disposal of excess product
• Audit patient claims for appropriate and accurate billing for Patient Assistance Program administered medications
• Must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to meet priorities in a timely manner
• Provide routine reports to pharmacy management team on project progress
• Assist in projects and cost savings initiatives for the pharmacy department
• Perform other pharmacy and administrative tasks as necessary

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Department of Health
• Pharmacy Technician certificate preferred.
