Job summary

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Pharmacy Technician I to support pharmacy services in a high-volume ambulatory care setting. You will prepare medications, process orders, and assist patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and customer service while supporting integrated, patient-centered pharmacy care for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required (CPhT).
• Current registration with the Colorado Board of Pharmacy required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare new and refill medications under direct supervision of a pharmacist and in coordination with other technicians.
• Maintain records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist patients with prescription needs and provide excellent customer service.
• Process prescription orders using the pharmacy tracking system and the EHR.
• Assist with insurance billing and resolution of prescription-related issues.
• Provide technical support for drug distribution, inventory, and ordering supplies.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers for timely services.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and protect patient information.

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I supports the provision of pharmacy services by preparing medications, processing orders, and assisting patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role ensures accuracy, safety, and efficiency in the delivery of medications while providing customer service and technical support in a high-volume ambulatory care setting. The position contributes to CCH's mission by reducing barriers to care and supporting integrated, patient-centered pharmacy services for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Duties/Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Prepare new and refill medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in coordination with other pharmacy technicians.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist patients with prescription needs, providing excellent customer service in a trauma-informed manner.
• Process prescription orders using the pharmacy tracking system and electronic health record system.
• Assist with insurance billing, payment processing and resolution of prescription-related issues.
• Provide technical support for drug distribution services, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational protocols.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients, providers, internal staff, and external partners.
• Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment aligned with CCH's mission and values.
• Ensure timely & accurate recording of all clinical/non-clinical services, communications, and tasks in the electronic health record (EHR) and other systems as required while maintaining complete up-to-date charts and any future upgrades as directed.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure and Certifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
• Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
• Current registration with the Colorado Board of Pharmacy required.

Experience

• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician required.
• Experience with insurance billing required.
• Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or safety-net healthcare setting preferred.

Job Competencies

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
• Knowledge of homelessness, health disparities, and sensitivity to underserved populations.
• Proficiency in pharmacy systems, EHRs, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
