Qualifications

  • ALTA score of 9 yields bilingual differential compensation.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks (phones, filing, faxing, scanning, copying).
  • Team-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organize work with attention to detail.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems incl. Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and ability to learn new systems.
  • Pre-employment drug screen after conditional offer.

Responsibilities

  • Enter patient data in the system, including name, insurance, allergies, doctor, and diagnosis.
  • Enter prescriptions in the system, select brand, product/drug, and strength as per Provider instructions.
  • Fill or dispense product from pharmacy stock and deliver to patient.
  • Process prescription refills and verify availability.
  • Maintain stock levels and place restock orders with suppliers.
  • Verify orders against invoices and purchase orders; label items and shelve.
  • Monitor expiration dates and process returns to wholesaler.
  • Handle a 30-day unpicked prescription and reverse billing entries.
  • Complete third-party billing forms and obtain prior authorization if required.
  • Perform clinical duties in line with TJC/HRSA/YVFWC requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Enter patient data in the system, including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor, and diagnosis. Enter the prescription in the system, selecting the brand, product/drug, and appropriate strength to align with the instructions given by the prescribing Provider
  • Fill or dispense the product from the pharmacy stock and deliver to the patient
  • Process prescription refills, verifying refill availability
  • Maintain awareness of stock level and enter orders for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verify quantity and submit order to the Wholesaler
  • Verify product orders received with the invoice and purchase order. Place a sticker on each item and place it on the shelf
  • Monitor and check expiration dates on drugs in stock and prepare expired stock for return to the Wholesaler. Process credit invoices associated with the returns
  • Return or discard dispensed prescriptions to stock if not picked up by the patient in 30 days. Enter information in the system for reverse billing
  • Complete the third-party billing form and contact the Provider if prior authorization is required
  • Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One year's experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician license or may have an active Pharmacy Intern License
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred at a level 9
  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning, and copying
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and the ability to learn new systems
  • This job will require a pre-employment drug screen, which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
